Coconut Flesh

Or as the Westerners call it, coconut meat… Iye, coconut meat wei. Pelik kan?

The flesh is rich in saturated fat, and fibre while providing a large value of manganese needed for our daily diet. A number of studies have discovered its role in increasing the level of good cholesterol, which lowers our chance of developing heart disease. Wow, hebat.

Oh lagi satu. Nak kurus? Try lah coconut flesh! Not only does it contain medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs), which are linked to fat burning. Tapi it can also be regularly consumed to lower the glucose level in our blood. It’s even possible for the MCFAs to improve Alzheimer’s patients‘ cognitive abilities as well. Siapa sangka kan?

Coconut Milk

Can you imagine how some of our favourite local dishes would taste if there’s no santan at all? Seram betul bunyinya!

There’s no denying the significance of coconut milk as an integral ingredient in every Malaysian kitchen. It is basically made by combining raw coconut flesh with water je.

Since coconut milk doesn’t contain lactose, it can be consumed as an alternative to milk by people who are lactose intolerant. Kalau lah you happen to suffer from a stomach ulcer (wei sakit), a sip of coconut milk should do the trick since it has a similar impact as an anti-ulcer medicine. Lagi satu kan,  it can alleviate inflamed joints or muscles juga.

Coconut Oil

Pernah tak terfikir macam mana coconut oil is made? Selalunya people would simply use the flesh of fully-grown coconuts, which are taken from the coconut palm tree.

Most of us would surely associate this precious ingredient with the Indian community (haruslah, kan?) where it’s highly popular as an organic hair care product. Tak kan tak pernah notice how luscious, silky and shiny their hair is. Ini sebab the oil easily permeates hair strands.

Bukan setakat tu je benefit dia sebab it can be used to prevent gingivitis and deter the presence of plaque on our teeth. Eh lupa nak mention! If you want to recover from yeast or candida infection, the lauric and capric acid in coconut oil can be an effective remedy too.

Coconut Water

There’s nothing more rejuvenating than a sip of coconut water during a hot evening, kan?

Aside from being a fantastic refreshment, coconut water has been proven to be effective in keeping us hydrated. Sama macam isotonic drinks, it contains various electrolytes, which protect us from dehydration lagi lagi on a hot day atau pun after we’ve done our physical exercises. Sebab tu lah ramai athletes consume it after intense workout sebab nak restore the amount of minerals in their bodies.

Oh dan yang paling cool kan, coconut water also exhibits antioxidant characteristics, making it suitable to stop oxidative stress from causing harm. Wow, menarik kan?

Menarik sebenarnya kan kelapa ni?

It’s truly fascinating to know that one humble fruit can bring tons of health benefits to us. So, the next time you go to Melaka and enjoy some coconut shakes, atau tengah minum air kelapa dekat warung ke, dekat tepi pantai ke, don’t forget what we’ve shared here, ok?
