While many have shared that one of the ways to ensure a healthy Ramadan experience is to eat a healthy and well-balanced diet. Tapi sebenarnya bukan tu je. It should be noted that a healthy Ramadan experience is not solely limited to food and diet.
Since Muslims will be observing the month of Ramadan this Thursday (23rd March 2023), hari ni kita nak share some tips to ensure you have a healthier Ramadan:
Know What You Are Eating
Time puasa ni, you kena lah fuel your body with good nourishment to compensate for the stress of fasting. Kalau nak tahu, some foods are more ideal to consume waktu sahur while others are more nutritious time berbuka. It is also advisable to eat fluid-rich and high-fibre food, such as oats, rye and beans, for sahur as it will keep you feeling hydrated and fuller longer. Meanwhile, high-fluid and low-fat food with natural sugar is best for berbuka to help recharge your energy level.
Betulkan Sleep Cycle
Other than drastic changes in calorie intake, Ramadan is known to have an impact on your sleeping cycle as Muslims are required to bangun sahur before dawn. One of the best ways to improve or to adjust your sleep cycle is by having a light iftar sebab bila perut rasa penuh sangat, nanti you akan rasa ngantuk and penat, which may lead you to accidentally fall asleep earlier than planned. Speaking of sleep, sebab you will be waking up before the crack of down to fill up the tank to power through the day, you may want to consider a reasonable bedtime so that your body and mind gets ample rest.
Make Lifestyle Changes
Muslims semua tahu that merokok tu haram masa puasa. While many smokers will quickly take a puff soon lepas berbuka, it is probably unwise to do so due to health reasons. Fasting leaves your body dehydrated and therefore, your body needs more liquid and glucose to recoup. Lagi pun, smoking is scientifically proven to have a detrimental impact on your health. With that said, this is the perfect time to make healthier choices for your lifestyle and sikit sebanyak, will ensure a better Ramadan experience.
Add Exercise To Your Routine Through Solat Terawih
Muslims are encouraged to solat terawih during Ramadan sebab sunnah. While the act of worship helps improve the relationship between the servant and the Creator, praying can also build concentration, improve blood flow and joints flexibility. Dan apa yang lagi menarik kan, praying offers the same benefits as exercising. Haa, dah alang-alang tu, allocating 15 minutes of your time, a day, to exercise will greatly improve your overall health and subsequently, giving you more energy and stamina to fast through the day.
Be Mindful And Present
Speaking of praying, Ramadan encourages Muslim to be more mindful in daily life, such as mindful talking, mindful action, mindful eating and mindful attention. The perks of being more aware of your thoughts, feelings and actions is that you will be less emotionally reactive to people and situations. Jangan terkejut kalau you might find yourself feeling more calm and will be more inclined to act with purpose and intent. Jasi cuba lah start by berzikir to work on being more present in the moment while keeping Allah on your mind.
Ok, itu je tips-tips yang kita dapat share hari ni. Hopefully it will help you have a healthier Ramadan experience, atau pun tolong you be inspired to lead a healthier lifestyle.
To all our Muslim families, and friends, Salam Ramadan, dan selamat berpuasa. May this holy month be filled with Barakah.
