Pernah perasan tak how skincare products often promote their products as miracle elixirs that return your youthful glow? In fact consumers’ habit of buying into skincare regime that promises younger skin prompted The Guardian to report that eternal youth is an ugly obsession that can translate to mental health concerns such as narcissism, low self-esteem or body dysmorphic disorder. Ish ish, tak sangka kan?

There is no denying that the right skincare regime coupled with a certain lifestyle can help you obtain a youthful appearance. Tapi kan, what if we told you that there is a way for you to look and feel younger?

#1 Take at least 15 minutes of your time to take a walk, tiap hari

The Sleep Research Foundation conducted a study that revealed a daily 15-minute walk reduced mortality rate by 22%, with added benefits such as increased cardiovascular, respiratory, and circulatory activity. Bukan tu je! It also improves mobility, increases blood and nutrient supply, thereby strengthening bones, and connective tissue. So, when your insides feel good, it glows on your skin. Cantik diluar, cantik di dalam macam tu.

#2 Understand your health to know which food supplements to take

Ok, you tahu tak sebenarnya vitamin and mineral deficiencies coupled with dehydration and a poor diet are responsible for making our skin look older, dry, tired and dull? Ye, serius. As a matter of fact, vitamin E is one of the most powerful natural antioxidants and is important in preventing our skin cells from dying. Sebab tu lah, vitamin E is responsible for keeping our skin smooth, supple and hydrated. Tapi do consult with your doctor or nutritionist before you purchase any vitamin E supplements. There’s also no harm in getting your blood work done to have a better idea on how you can improve your health and diet.

#3 Antioxidants is your best friend that helps you look muda

Before you do your grocery shopping, you should know which food is rich in antioxidants. One of the many benefits of antioxidants is that it helps slow the ageing processes. So, kalau your goal is to have younger-looking skin, then you might need to include more vitamin E in your diet! Antara makanan yang rich in vitamin E are broccoli, capsicum, avocado and kiwi. Hmm.. sedap ni kalau buat fajitas, kan?

#4 Keep yourself well-hydrated and your skin will thank you, ok?

Water is one of the most important substances that every part of our body and cell needs. Kalau nak tahu, a person consists of 60-70% water. According to the National Academics of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, the average and healthy adult is advised to consume between 2.7 litres and 3.7 litres of water per day — which is loosely translated to 11 to 15 cups a day. Banyak juga, kan? So, drinking enough water will improve your skin elasticity, which in turn will give you a healthier, plumper and more youthful skin.

#5 Stop lah poisoning your skin with chemicals

Finally, it is time we accept that the secret to younger skin is changing our lifestyle and diet. Let us be real, science has proven that the majority of “miracle creams” consist of toxic and cancerogenic ingredients, such as parabens and silicones, and are deprived of healthy fatty acids, vitamins and minerals that our skin truly needs. Moving forward folks, let us look for organic, natural or vegan products that are kinder and softer to our skin. Macam orang selalu kata, beauty is pain. Jom kita ubah naratif dia nak? Beauty is health!

Sekarang kita dah shared with you these tips, do take some time to evaluate your health and lifestyle, tau. Ask yourself what sort of changes need to be made, and address them. Slowly but surely, you will look and feel younger… which is definitely a win!
